A Cornish Country House Shoot
Earlier this year I was invited by Gemma of Box and Cox Vintage Hire to be involved in an exciting shoot on location at the very beautiful Enys Gardens in Penryn, Cornwall. The estate has recently started taking wedding bookings with the choice of either a marquee reception at the ‘Tennis Court’ or a rustic dinner inside Enys House. It was the romantic interior of Enys House, having largely stood still in time, that was chosen as the backdrop for this stunning series of shots from Enchanted Brides Photography.
The fabulous Wed Magazine have featured the picures in this month’s edition and quite rightly elude to the 800 year old house and it’s faded grandeur seeming to be lifted from the very pages of a Daphne Du Maurier novel. The graceful architecture of the estate no doubt informed the styling of the shoot, led by Gemma of Box and Cox, which culiminated in a luxe botanical theme with undertones of the decadent 1930s. “Taking inspiration from the rich history of Enys and its adventurous custodians who gathered plants from across the globe, we used botanicals to breathe life into dormant spaces,” explains Gemma. Inspiration for the stationery was taken from the vintage botanical drawings one might find in the journals of these very custodians and the text compliments these delicate illustrations with elegant caligraphy and the signature, decorative art deco font associated with that era.
